I'll admit that I still love the traditional static site generator (SSG). Once upon a time, I recall these were somewhat dismissively referred to as "legacy" SSGs. These are tools like Jekyll and Hugo that have been around seemingly forever and were specifically designed for generating static content (aka static sites). They've been joined by their more recent counterparts like Eleventy and Bridgetown.
Tools like Next.js, Nuxt.js, Gatsby and others still appear to dominate overall usage. But, rather than be replaced as they once seemed like they might, traditional SSGs feel like they've found a more permanent place in the Jamstack developer toolset. If so, I am grateful for that.
